Refacing your existing cabinets is an easy and inexpensive way to transform your kitchen or bath without doing a complete remodel. Cabinet refacing is a process wherein the doors, moldings and hardware are removed from your existing cabinets. The cabinet box is then sanded and prepared for new wood veneers, in the wood type and stain of your choice. The new material is applied using environmentally friendly “green” adhesives. After the new wood veneers are applied to your existing cabinets, new doors, new moldings, and new hardware are installed. Please take a look at some of our cabinet refacing projects in this gallery. If you like the current layout/configuration of your kitchen/bath, it often makes sense to reface your cabinets as opposed to replacing them.
Not just a kitchen refacing kit
Because it appears that we are simply replacing the doors and hardware of the cabinets, people often refer to this as “kitchen cabinets refacing kits”. However, once we remove the existing doors and hardware, in order to ensure durability of the new cabinets doors, there is some very important preparation work that must be completed (as mentioned above). The preparation work of the existing cabinet boxes provides the foundation for the quality cabinet doors to be installed. Also, often when we reface cabinets, we modify the interior of the cabinets with pull out drawers (instead of leaving the existing shelves). This minor modification greatly increases the functionality of a kitchen and demonstrates that the project is not simply a kitchen cabinets refacing kits that we install.
